Dear SRSA Friends and Family,

The Southeastern Rett Syndrome Alliance has been a non-profit organization since 2006. In that time, we have had many wonderful conferences, and we have helped connect families in support, education, training, and fellowship. It has been a remarkable and fulfilling 11 years!

Unfortunately, the SRSA Board of Directors face a time of difficult decision, and we wanted to be open and transparent with all who may be impacted by this decision. Currently, SRSA has 4 executive board openings: President, 1st Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary. The SRSA board is a working board. Dwindling interest in board service and volunteer support has caused the organization itself to struggle to accomplish its mission.  That mission is to provide awareness, support and connections to those impacted by Rett Syndrome, and to expand knowledge and understanding for caregivers and professionals.  In order to function as a non-profit, and more importantly, to meet that mission, we must have a full board.

It is with heavy hearts that our board will vote on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, to decide to dissolve the Southeastern Rett Syndrome Alliance.

We are reaching out to each of you as a final gauge of interest in becoming a part of the executive board, serving in a leadership role in the organization, and maintaining the Southeastern Rett Syndrome Alliance. The board needs to hear from you as soon as possible. Please keep in mind we are a working board. Board service takes commitment, and often many hours of work per week.  In order to be effective, SRSA needs individual grant writers, accountants, publicists, and other professional-minded people willing to serve on the board.

Thank you so much, and we will keep you all abreast of the SRSA Board's upcoming decision!

Sincerely, René Davis
